Our nation is one that respects the elderly people. This is a tradition that dates back to ancient times. It is also part of the Islamic principles: “Respect your elderlies [Shabaniyah Supplication].” Grandparents are like a candle around whom all other family members flock, like butterflies. Whereas, in Western cultures, grandparents are often ignored. They don’t attend to the generation that they believe ‘looks to the past.’ Even when they respect the elderly to some extent, they don’t actually appreciate them. We, on the contrary, do appreciate the elderly. They gradually managed to do these [in order to promote a culture of ignoring the elderly] via an imposed, forced culture; of course, forced in a new manner! Imposition can be done by pointing the gun towards someone’s head and forcing them to do a particular thing; or else, by means of mass communication, a concept, or an idea is so repeated over and over throughout the society until it is instilled in the minds of the people and—whether they want it or not—this idea is reflected in their thoughts, words and actions.

They target hospitals, markets, the parliament and the places where the people gather. The issue is not about a military dispute, rather they are opposed to nations. The inappropriate and absurd behavior of the current US President is what former governments used to do as well. In every administration, they have shown their malice, enmity and viciousness against the Iranian nation, in one way or another.

Martyr Chamran a scientist in U.S. who became a soldier for Islam
We have role models in so many arenas. We have outstanding role models, all of whom have shown that they are exceptional and great. We had great Generals and outstanding personalities in the war. Some of them were scientific personalities. These people — such as Shahid Chamran — came to the war and they became soldiers with their guns in hand. Chamran was a scientific personality; he was also an artistic personality. He used to say to me, "I am skilled at photography." But he had come for the war, and he was wearing his military uniform: he had become a soldier. But even before entering this arena, he had an outstanding personality.
It behooves me to make a few comments about Shahid (Martyr) Mustafa Chamran during this meeting. First of all, Mustafa Chamran was an outstanding and talented person, in addition to being a scientist. He would tell me about the manner in which his professors used to treat him and about his progression of scholarly works while completing his graduate studies in the United States of America. As far as I remember, he was one of the top two students at his university, in his field. He was a true scientist, yet his religious devotion was so strong that he gave up his notoriety, position and future in the academic world.

Blood donating in Ramadan, when altruism prevails over selfishness
Volunteerism and benevolence for the interest of the public are very valuable and will lead to the purification of one’s soul. During the month of Ramadan, many charitable deeds were made to attend to the needy; including even blood donation. When the officials announced fresh blood was needed for the patients, a lot of people donated their blood in the month of Ramadan. This is the state when altruism prevails over selfishness when interests of others are intended to prevail over one’s own interests. This is, to some extent, inspired by the spirituality of the month of Ramadan; Thank God, it happened this year, just like previous years.

Eid ul-Fitr can be used to achieve dignity for Muslims in this world and the next
I would like to congratulate all honorable people... and the great and pious Iranian nation and every member of the Islamic Ummah throughout Muslim countries, and in every part of the world on this great Eid.
The important point is that we should appreciate the value of such opportunities. Allah the Exalted made the auspicious Eid ul-Fitr a source of honor and dignity for the Islamic Ummah and for the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.). "You made it an Eid for the Muslims and for Muhammad (God's greetings be upon him and his household) and a source of honor and dignity and bounty." This is an instrument for increasing the dignity and honor and of the Islamic Ummah and the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.). And it depends on how we Muslims make use of such opportunities and occasions. The Muslim nations can use the month of Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr as an instrument to achieve glory and dignity. They can use these occasions as a ladder to climb towards spiritual and material improvements, towards dignity in this world and in the next. We should be vigilant, and we should take advantage of suchopportunities.

Most of Iran consists of a youthful population born after Imam Khomeini's blessed life had ended. They were either born after he passed away or were young children at that time. But these faithful youth, living in various parts of the country, loved Imam and his memory so much that it's as if they had been in his company all along. As we say in Samaat prayers: "We rightly and sincerely put our faith in him without being able to see him." They enjoyed pure and sincere faith without having been born during the Imam's lifetime and without having the opportunity to listen to his remarks: this is not peculiar to our nation alone. In many parts of the world, as well as in Muslim countries, people have the same feeling towards Imam Khomeini.
This reality is the result of two factors: one is the greatness of the Imam and the various aspects of his personality, which was unparalleled in recent and contemporary eras; the other factor is the greatness of this Revolution. It is the greatness of a deed that our magnanimous Imam accomplished in the present era by relying on his faith, acumen, and a strong determination. This deed was his initiation of the Islamic Revolution and the establishment of the Islamic Republic. The greatness of this Revolution is indicative of our magnanimous Imam's greatness. Iran's Revolution was a divine miracle[...]
Imam Khomeini (r.a.) left a perpetual guideline for his Ummah -- our nation -- with his words and deeds: meaning that the words of Imam Khomeini (r.a.) guide us through all difficult stages of life, and his testament is one of the best and most influential moral legacies of his time. It is advisable that the people, the different officials, and all youth refer to his testament at different times and reflect on it
